IND vs AUS Live: “Credit goes to everyone” – Rohit

“Till the last ball is bowled, nothing is certain. At the halfway stage, we felt like it’s a reasonable score. The nature of the pitch doesn’t allow you play your shots. We were clinical with the bat. We were calm and composed in our chase. Looked better (pitch). Slightly played better than the one against NZ. It’s about playing good cricket. There are a lot of experienced guys. That’s something I wanted to have – six bowling options and at the same get that batting depth as well. Credit goes to everyone who were involved in making the team. He’s done it for so many years. When we wee batting, we were calm. Those shots in the end by Hardik were crucial,” said Rohit Sharma.

India vs Australia Live: ‘We could have got a few more’ – Smith

“I thought the bowlers did a really good job, they worked hard throughout, the spinners squeezed and took the game deep. It was a tricky wicket to start on batting, tough to rotate the strike, everyone did a really good job tonight. It played pretty similar throughout. Little bit of hold for the spinners, little bit of spin and a bit of skid. For the pacers, it was two-paced. We probably could have got a few more on. We lost a couple of wickets at crucial times. If we got 280+, things would have been different. Felt like we were one wicket too many down at each stage of the game. The way we’ve come together. The bowling unit did a wonderful job, some of the batters stood up. We played exceptionally well against England. Some really good cricketers, they are going to get bigger and better,” said Australia captain Steve Smith.

IND vs AUS Live: Virat named Player of the Match!

“It was pretty similar to the other day against Pakistan. It is about understanding the conditions and rotating the strike because partnerships on its pitch are important. it all depends on the conditions and then I play my innings. My timing, my composure at the crease, I wasn’t rushed. The singles that I took was the most pleasing part for me. This game is all about pressure. If you go deep into the game, the opposition usually give in. It is important to control your impulses. Even if the RR is six an over, I am not bothered. [Best he has ever played?] I don’t know. That is up to you guys to break down. I have never focused on those things. When you don’t think of those milestones, they happen. If I get to the three-figure mark, great, but the win is important. For me, those things don’t matter anymore,” said Kohli after the game.

India vs New Zealand Live: Here’s what Rohit Sharma said at the toss

“Was anyway looking to bat first, wanted to see what we could do upfront and then challenge our bowlers since we chased on both games. Approach will be very similar to the previous games, just trying to do the same things. One change for us – Harshit has been rested, Varun is playing for us. It is all about bowling in partnerships, in both games we have combined to pick 19 wickets. Our spinners have restricted them well and then the seamers have got the wickets.”

Champions Trophy 2025 Live: Pitch report

“The leg side is shorter for the right handers, and it is a longer hit down the ground. Great weather out here, it is just 24 degrees. This is a black soil pitch from Pakistan, pretty dry and will help spinners in the beginning, but later on it comes on better as the lights come on. The economy rate of the spinners are better, but pacers have picked more wickets,” reckon Simon Doull and Dinesh Karthik.

Champions Trophy 2025 Live: Will Arshdeep play?

In his absence, pacer Arshdeep Singh can play for India in his first Champions Trophy. Arshdeep trained under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Morne Morkel, bowling 13 overs with full run-up while Shami only bowled 6-7 overs with a curtailed run-up.

IND vs NZ Live: India’s tough challenge against NZ

India do not have very fond memories of facing Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips in a Test series at home late last year, which they lost 0-3, and now they have Bracewell too to tackle. The off-spinner has been quite parsimonious so far, conceding just 3.2 runs per over across two matches. So, the effectiveness of Shubman Gill, India’s standout batter in ODIs of late, batting icon Virat Kohli, who made a morale-boosting 100 against Pakistan, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul against them will have a telling impact on the outcome of the game.

India vs England Live: Here’s what Rohit Sharma said at the toss

“I wanted to bat first and put runs on the board because we bowled first in the last two games. It was important for us to get a win in the last game. The fielders portrayed themselves well in the last two games, a lot of young blood. We want to continue to do well in the field. (On Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy) They are pretty new in their careers so we want to keep the pressure away from them, let them do their own and they have got a lot of potential. We have made some changes – Jadeja and Shami have been rested, unfortunately Varun has a sore calf. So, Washi, Kuldeep and Arshdeep come into the side.”

IND vs ENG 3rd ODI Live: Here’s what Jos Buttler said at the toss

“We are gonna bowl first today. (On whether the expected dew has influenced his decision to bowl first) Little bit maybe, it may spin a bit later. We have batted first in the first two games so it will be a different experience today ahead of the Champions Trophy. It’s a decent wicket, we played New Zealand in the World Cup a few years ago, it was a black soil pitch and it played better in the second half. We have one change – Tom Banton comes in for Jamie Overton into the side.”

India vs England Live: Here’s what Saqib Mahmood said before the game

“I think it’s a dead rubber in terms of the series but in terms of the team we can take a lot heading into the Champions Trophy. (On the Indian pitches) It changes quite a bit in the evening as the dew comes on. It has been really good in the powerplay for batting. It’s my first time in India and I’m learning a lot, it has been good fun. It’s been a little stop-start for me. A few years ago in 2022, I cemented my spot a bit but then I had a stress fracture. Hopefully, I can make a comeback and play in all formats.”

India vs England Live: Pitch report

“This one is right in the centre, 66m to the left and right and 74m straight down the ground. This is the same pitch used for the World Cup final, black soil pitch. It played slower in the first half and better for batting in the second half. The hessian has just come off so it’s a bit damp but there is still time left before play starts it should dry out. There are some cracks that could keep the bowlers interested. Looks like a bowl first wicket. One of those pitch where if a batter gets in he can score but it might not be easy for the new comer. Dew is a concern, there was a lot of dew last night,” Deep Dasgupta and Graeme Swann.

India vs England Live: Rohit Sharma’s powerful ton

3rd ODI Live: Focus on Kohli

Needless to say, having their batting mainstay Virat Kohli among runs and a win would be perfect culmination to the home side’s Champions Trophy preparations. The eight-team competition gets underway from February 19 in Karachi with India starting against Bangladesh the next day in Dubai as per a hybrid model of hosting. Kohli hasn’t looked completely out of touch but hasn’t stayed at the crease for long enough to give himself a chance for a big knock either.

One-day cricket is Virat Kohli’s staple format, and the 36-year-old needs just 94 runs to become the third batter to reach 14,000 runs in the format after Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) and Kumar Sangakkara (14,234) Having played 283 ODI innings, Kohli can also become the fastest to this milestone ahead of Tendulkar (350 innings) and Sangakkara (378).

India vs England Live: Rohit under scanner

India skipper Rohit Sharma’s struggles continued as he perished for just two in the first ODI, failing to shake off the disastrous run in the Test series against Australia. His dismissal — a mis-timed lofted shot off Liam Livingstone that ballooned to midwicket — reflected his desperation for runs. The Mumbai man has not scored a fifty in any format since August last year when he made 64 against Sri Lanka in Colombo in the third match.

India vs England Live: Who will Kohli replace?

Shreyas Iyer, who came in for Kohli at the last minute by his own admission, made a rollicking 36-ball 59 that has made dropping him an almost unthinkable act. If the past norms are followed, then Kohli will walk in for Shreyas, but it is more likely that Yashasvi Jaiswal could be the one who will have to make for the batting icon. It means that Gill might rejoin Rohit at the top, and Jaiswal did not have a blazing match either at Nagpur.

However, vice-captain Shubman Gill had indicated that Kohli could be back for the second match, which will be played at a venue where the latter made a match-winning 85 against the West Indies in 2019.
